Preparation is the Key to a Professional Paint Job
Professional paint jobs require preparation and patience. By following these tips, you should be able to produce a professional paint job.
- Take the Time to Tape
Unless you are skilled enough to paint straight lines around the woodwork, windowsills and door frames, use painter’s tape to achieve the nice, clean edges. For doorknobs, tape a plastic sandwich bag around the knob to protect it from paint splatter.
- Are your walls clean? Are you sure?
Washing your walls prior to painting will provide a good clean surface for best results. Remember that paint won't adhere well to dirty walls.
- Why Use Primer?
A nice coat of primer paint provides a good surface for your finish coat of paint. Also, a nice primer coat will insure the true shade of the color you've chosen. If you are painting the same existing color then primer may not be needed.
- How Much Paint Do I Need?
Typically you need one gallon for every 400 square feet. Plan for more if your walls are textured.
- Have Patience From prepping surfaces to properly taping to waiting for any surface repairs to dry to actually painting, patience is the number one ingredient needed. If you lack patience and don't have the time to devote to do the job right, call Francisco and let us provide you with an estimate.
